Episode 35: Interview with Michelle Scully
Friday Sep 01, 2023
Friday Sep 01, 2023
It was fascinating to catch up with Michelle earlier in the year and hear more about her history with horses, a wreck breaking her back, and the journey to ride again which she writes about in her books.
About Michelle:
Michelle R Scully is an avid horsewoman and animal lover. Michelle and her husband live in northern California where they are part of a multi-generational farming operation. A bad wreck years ago spurred her to share her journey back into the saddle in her first book Broken, Tales of a Titanium Cowgirl in the hope of encouraging others and helping horses get a better deal. She just released a new book Horsemanship and Life, a True Story, both available on Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

Episode 34: Ben Longwell - Helping A Horse Get Haltered
Tuesday Jul 18, 2023
Tuesday Jul 18, 2023
In this episode, we are going to discuss some communication keys for preparing your horse to be haltered with trust and understanding. These principles apply not only to young horses/foals (starting to halter) and problem-solving cases (where a horse has developed evasive ideas), but also may help you think about your approach to simple tasks, even if you don't have a problem.

Episode 33: Tales From The Trail: Jeffery Mundell
Saturday May 27, 2023
Saturday May 27, 2023
Welcome to 'Tales from the Trail' which is a special podcast series we are recording in person as we travel the west during our Winter Clinic Tour. From gear makers and ranchers, to horsemen and other interesting people - tune in to enjoy as they share their stories.
I have followed Jeff's work for a number of years now and it was awesome to finally be able to meet in person on the historic Gabilan Ranch. We share several common passions including horsemanship, vaquero bridle horse and regenerative agriculture. It was so interesting and refreshing to learn more about his story.
About Jeffery:
California born and raised, Jefferey became intrigued with true bridle horses at 12 years of age. Over the years, Jeffrey's desire grew toward keeping the bridle horse traditions alive and learning the art of hackamores, two-rein and using spade signal bits while working in cattle operations and embracing the buckaroo lifestyle. He is the ranch manager on the historic El Rancho Cienega del Gabilan, a working cattle ranch in San Juan Bautista, CA. He continues to follow and respect the early vaquero traditions in horsemanship & stockmanship and practices regenerative grazing to restore the rangeland eco systems.

I first met Joni when I was about 8 and she gave me my very first paying job - fixing fence on her leases for $2 per hour (I thought I was rolling in it $$$). In 2020, we imported one of her beautiful APHA double homozygous stallions (Tru Master Plan) down to New Zealand. It was awesome to sit down with her and learn more of her story.
About Joni Voloshin
Joni operates Joni Voloshin Performance Horses, in Northwest Colorado, specialize in Homozygous Paint Performance Horses. To compliment their great Stallions (owning both the number 1 and number 2 all time APHA points earners in all time history) they have given special consideration to the selection of the Mares that make up their Broodmare Band. All of the Mares have wonderful dispositions and excellent pedigrees filled with Champions and Performers as Joni strives to produce Foals that possess good dispositions, plus all the qualities and the potential to perform in the show ring and become the Champions of Tomorrow.
